Beyond the Classroom - Camps
School camps are an integral part of the school learning program. We hope that all students will attend a camp every year from the commencement of their schooling in Foundation, right through to the end of their schooling in Seniors.
Camps are not regarded as simply another holiday. The camping program enables the students to get to know their teachers and classmates in a less formal way than is possible in the school situation. The learning emphasis on all camps is for students to practise life skills and develop independence.
Generally, camps are held at Garfield, Blackwood and Melbourne ‘urban' camp. Most camps use huts and lodges for accommodation. Some of our Seniors attend camps involving bike riding and tenting. We are fortunate to have three school buses which reduce the transport cost to camp.
